As dates of camps are known they will be posted here. Only camps listed under “Approved Camps” will be eligible for scholarship reimbursement.
Training Opportunities in the Spring
If you are new to 3-person mechanics there are a couple free opportunities for you this spring
- PNBOA will be hosting an Introduction to 3 Person training course at Hidden Valley in Bellevue in late April – contact apprentice@pnboa.org for more information
- A group of officials from PNBOA & Snohomish County are offering training on Sundays in March thru Mid-April in Lake Stevens. If interested, please complete this form https://forms.gle/62jQTF9m24FPT4dF8

- ECOA Bellevue Bellevue, WA. Apr 24th – 26th
- Sound Officiating Academy, Snohomish WA, TBD
- The Edge Basketball Officials Camp, Eugene, OR. June 19th – 21st.
- Referee School, Oregon City, OR. TBD
- Referee Basic Training, Auburn, WA. Sept 11th – 13th
Scholarships
PNBOA awards a minimum of 12 camp scholarships every year to members in good-standing – including scholarships awarded as part of our annual awards.
- Rookie of the Year
- Linda Meredith Scholarship: awarded to the official that exudes professionalism, integrity and service to the game and gives back to the growth of Women’s basketball. Linda was a longtime member of the SOWB and was a pioneer and leader in promoting women’s basketball officiating. Linda was inducted in to the WOA Hall of Fame in 2006.
- Frank Roach Scholarship. Established in memory of one of our colleagues who passed away suddenly It is awarded to the nominee that best exemplifies the values Frank espoused – displaying positive attitude and giving back through teaching and mentoring new officials.
- Emerald City Officials Academy (ECOA) awards full scholarship to their camps that is split between the winner of the Person of the Year award and the highest ranking Registered official from the list of scholarship recipients.

The scholarships have been increased from $150 to $200 for 2025 and you are reimbursed for the scholarship amount when you show proof of completion of the camp.
Scholarships will be awarded based on criteria including, but not limited to or in order of application, the following:
- Previously awarded scholarships (do not award in successive years to same official)
- Years of service
- Number of games worked the previous season
- Reason for requesting scholarship
- Involvement with the PNBOA
- Classification (distribute to Varsity, Registered & Apprentice officials)
- Other criteria, as necessary
